First, I would like to introduce myself. I am J. Houston Bales. I am a criminal defense attorney practicing in the state of Kansas. I am based out of my hometown, Wichita, Kansas where I worked as a public defender for six and a half years before leaving to expand the scope of my practice. I would love to talk to you about any legal troubles you may be facing.
While I normally practice criminal law, I also practice in areas that touch on criminal law, such as protection orders and license defense. When I take on a client, I approach their case to ensure a minimal impact to all aspects of their life, not just the criminal justice aspect. Because as I tell my clients, everyone is so much more than the worst day of their life and their criminal record.
I also have a passion for writing and teaching, so I intend to use this space to help teach people answers to many of the most common questions I get about our criminal justice system, and to help update my fellow attorneys on developments in the laws of Kansas.
